关于国际英语联合会（ESU） About ESU

国际英语联合会 (English-Speaking Union,ESU) 于1918年根据英国皇家宪章成立，是英国历史最悠久的教育慈善机构之一。ESU至今享有英国皇室的支持，英国女王伊丽莎白二世曾任ESU资助人，查尔斯三世国王目前担任资助人，安妮公主是ESU现任主席。皇室成员的长期支持，彰显了ESU在国际交流中的重要地位。皇室成员多次出席了ESU公开演讲比赛和活动。此外，英国前首相温斯顿丘吉尔爵士也曾于1921-1925年任ESU主席。

ESU机构总部位于伦敦达特茅斯宫，至今在全球60余个国家都设有分支机构，影响力遍布世界各地。自成立以来，ESU始终倡导跨文化交流与教育公平，其核心使命是利用英语这一国际语言，促进国际对话与合作。

1982年，ESU创办国际公众英语演讲比赛(IPSC, 全称International Public Speaking Competition),每年在英国伦敦举办。大赛将全世界各种文化背景的青年人汇集到一起，为他们提供了一个互相交流的平台，至今已经成功举办35届。除此之外ESU还举办国际公共演讲比赛、发现你的声音讲习班、模拟联合国和辩论教练等项目，所有这些都给年轻人提供了领导能力、批判性思维和有效沟通方面的实践经验。

The English-Speaking Union(ESU), established in 1918 by Royal Charter, is one of the oldest educational charities in the United Kingdom. The ESU continues to enjoy the support of the British Royal Family; Queen Elizabeth II served as its Patron, and King Charles III is the current Patron. Princess Anne is the current President of the ESU. The long-standing royal support underscores the ESU's significant role in international exchange. Members of the royal family have attended various ESU public speaking competitions and events. Additionally, former British Prime Minister Sir Winston Churchill served as the ESU's President from 1921 to 1925.

Headquartered at Dartmouth House in London, the ESU has branches in over 60 countries worldwide, with its influence extending across the globe. Since its inception, the ESU has been committed to promoting cross-cultural exchange and educational equity, with its core mission being to use English as an international language to foster international dialogue and cooperation.

In 1982, the ESU launched the International Public Speaking Competition (IPSC), held annually in London. This competition brings together young people from diverse cultural backgrounds, providing them with a platform for mutual exchange. It has been successfully held for 35 years. In addition to the IPSC, the ESU also organizes events such as international public speaking contests, the "Find Your Voice" workshops, Model United Nations, and debate coaching programs, all of which provide young people with practical experience in leadership, critical thinking, and effective communication.

第一课：辩论入门与论点构建的PEEL结构

Lesson 1: Introduction to Debating and PEEL Structure for Arguments

学生将了解辩论的基本概念、关键术语以及ESU (国际英语联合会)提出的四项核心口语技能。学习PEEL结构(观点-证据-解释-连接)的运用，并通过练习掌握这一论证技巧。

Students will be introduced to debating, key vocabulary and the ESU's four key sillsets for oracy. Students will be introduced to PEEL structure (Point Evidence Explanation Link) for delivering arguments and will practice using this technique.

第二课：PEEL技巧实践与辩论中的说服力训练

Lesson 2: Practicing PEEL and Using Persuasion in Debating

学生将学习如何运用说服技巧，并通过强化PEEL结构提升论点组织能力，增强表达自信。

Students will be introduced to persuasive techniques and will develop confidence in applying the PEEL technique in structuring arguments.

第三课：英式权杖辩论赛制与辩手角色（一期）

Lesson 3: Mace Format and Roles of Speakers

介绍英式权杖辩论赛制，重点解析第一辩手及第一反方辩手的角色，学生将观看英式权杖辩论赛视频片段，分析辩手的表现及改进方式，讨论各自的表现。

Students will be introduced to the Mace format and the roles of speakers with a focus on the first proposition speaker and the first opposition speaker. Students will watch a video of part of a Mace debate, talk about the speakers' arguments and how they present them, and share ideas on what was good and what could be better.

第四课：英式权杖辩论赛制与辩手角色(二辩)

Lesson 4: Mace Format and Roles of Speakers

深入学习英式权杖赛制，聚焦正方二辩与反方二辩的角色。通过观摩辩论视频，学生将探讨辩手的论据策略及表现，提出优化建议。

Students will be introduced to the Mace format and the roles of speakers with a focus on the second proposition speaker and the second opposition speaker. 第五课：反驳技巧与论点回应方法

Lesson 5: Rebuttal Techniques and Responding to Arguments

Students will learn how to challenge opponents' arguments effectively.

第六课：理解与运用信息质询(POIs)

Lesson 6: Understanding and Using Points of Information (POIs)

巩固辩论知识，学习如何提出及回应信息质询(Points of Information)，提升临场应对能力。

Students will build on their debating knowledge and learn how to give and respond to POIs effectively.

第七课：总结陈词与辩手角色回顾

Lesson 7: Summary Speeches and Review of Roles of Speakers

学习并练习总结陈词技巧，同时回顾辩手角色分工，观看视频分析辩手的总结陈词表现，并开展模拟练习。

Students will learn and practice summary speech techniques while refining their debating skills. We will have the opportunity to watch a video of part of a Mace debate, talk about the speakers' arguments, summary and how they present them, and share ideas on what was good and what could be better.

第八课：课程总结与综合演练

Lesson 8: Review and Practice

回顾课程中学习的核心辩论技巧，反思个人进步，并在支持性环境中进行综合演练。学生将巩固所学知识，提升应用信心，并明确后续参加辩论赛前需加强的领域。

Students will review key debating techniques learned during the course, reflect on their progress, and practice their skills in a supportive environment. Students will consolidate their learning, feel more confident in applying debating techniques, and leave the course with a clear understanding of their progress and areas to practice prior to attending debate competitions.

Sara老师毕业于剑桥大学，获得英语文学学士学位(成绩二等一级荣誉),同时她还是耶鲁青年全球学者和国际英语联合会 (ESU) 交流学者。Sara 老师在音乐领域也造诣颇深，获得皇家音乐学院联合委员会竖琴八级认证。

在辩论和公共演讲领域，Sara 老师经验丰富，担任多项重要职务。ESU教练及评委，还多次在ESU英式权杖辩论赛与公共演讲比赛、世界学校辩论赛、剑桥学校辩论赛中担任评委。

Sara 老师自己也在辩论和演讲赛事中成绩斐然。2019年，她荣获ESU- 丘吉尔公共演讲比赛威尔士地区决赛冠军，并入围该赛事英国全国总决赛。同年，她还赢得威尔士学校辩论比赛冠军。

Sara 老师专长于辩论、口语表达、公共演讲领域的教学，并且精通威尔士语和西班牙语。她坚信，孩子们说出的每一个字都在构建他们的世界，而培养强大的口语技能，能够增强孩子的自信心、批判性思维能力，助力学业成功，让孩子们在生活的各个方面茁壮成长。

Ms.Sara graduated from Emmanuel College,University of Cambridge,witha BAin English(2:1Honors.She is alsoaYale Young GlobalSchol- ar andan ESUSecondary SchoolExchange Scholar.In the fieldof music,Ms.Sara hasachievedahigh levelof proficiency,obtaining anABRSM Grade8in Harp.

In the areas of debating and public speaking,Ms.Sara has extensive experience and holds several importantpositions.She serves asthe coach of the Scotland Schools Debating Team,a coach and judge at the ESU Debate Academy,and hasjudged prestigious competitions such asthe ESU Schools'Mace &Public Speaking Competition,the World Schools Debating Championships,and the Cambridge Schools Debating Competition.

Ms.Sara has an impressive track record in debating and public speaking competions.In 2019,she won the Welsh National Final of the ESU-ChurchillPublic Speaking Competition and was aUK National Finalist in the same competition.Additionall,she emerged victorious in the Wales Schools Debating Competition in 2019.

Ms.Sara specializesin teaching debating,oracy,andpublic speaking.Sheisalso proficientin Welsh and Spanish.She firmly believesthat every word achild speaks contributesto shaping their world.Developing strong oracy sklls can enhance achild's confidence,criticalthinking abies, and academic performance,enabling them to thrive in allaspects of life.

在专业领域，Ms.Térèse 成果显著。她助力学校获得学校心理健康金奖，在辩论技巧教学方面经验丰富，其教学工作获得英国教育标准局 (OFSTED) 的杰出评价。此外，她在领导力发展、教育政策与实践、口语表达和公共演讲等方面也有着深厚的专业积累。

Ms.Térese Wilmot graduated from Leeds Trinity University with a BEd Hons(2:1.She was once named Teacher of the Year and has received the Mayor of London's Gold Club Award.As a leadership consultant and teacher trainer,she is qualified in 21st Century Headship.

In her professional areas,Ms.Térese has achieved remarkable results.She has helped schools win the School Mental Health Award Gold and is experienced in teaching debating skill.Her teaching work has received an outstanding evaluation from OFSTED.Moreover,she has profound expertise in leadership development,education policy and practice,oracy,and public speaking.

Ms.Térese hasextensive teaching experience.Before becoming an Oracy Leader,she servedasaheadteacher,and she has been teaching for over thirty years.She is also ajudge for the ESU Schools'Mace Debating Competition and the ESU International Public Speaking Competifion and has received safeguarding training.
